GLOSSARY
1. Contagious: capable of being transmitted from one individual to another.
2. Bacteria: One celled forms of life that cause diseases and infections.
3. Bacterial: Caused by bacteria.
4. Respiration/Respiratory: Inhalation and exhalation- transport of oxygen to carbon dioxide.
5. Windpipe: Airway that extends from the voice box o the throat (aka Trachea)
6. Mucus: Slippery substance made from mucins water, cells and inorganic salts and is stationed in the mucus membrane.
7. Mucus Accumulation: Build up of mucus.
8. Pneumonia: Serious, deadly infection of the lungs.
9. Middle ear infection: Inflammation, bleeding and over production of fluid in ear (very harmful).
10. Vaccine: an antigenic substance prepared from the causative agent of a disease and is used to provide immunity against diseases.
11. Immunization: the process in which an individual's immune system is protected against a disease.
12. Germ: a microorganism that usually causes diseases.
13. Antibiotics: A medicine that stops growth of or kills microorganisms.
14. Microorganism: A microscopic organism (particularly a bacterium, virus or fungus)
